Since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there are more than a few organizations spreading the word. In addition to general information about breast cancer, such as causes, treatments, and the different stages, there’s the emotional and mental impact that affects not only those suffering but their loved ones. On Thursday evening, the local Boxing community will be trying to do their part.

Jolene Blackshear (seated) is photographed while listening to her trainer Kalina Fernandez during a May, 2009 bout against Melissa McMorrow. After working with a new trainer, Jose Cital, the 41 year pugilist is returning to the ring after a three plus year hiatus.

One by one, the boxers competing on Thursday night said a few words about their           careers and aspirations. Here we see Sandra Robles addressing the media.

In Hollywood, it’s called protecting your asests. With the studios calling, Abigail       Castaneda has to make certain her opponent doesn’t mark up her lovely face.

Abigail’s opponent, Angelica “Maravilla” Dominguez, is also a hottie. Who knows,                 she might be planning her own movie career. Photos: Jim Wyatt

Hard hitting Kenia Enriquez esta muy hermosa – as a matter of fact,                                           the whole fight card is stacked with beautiful young ladies.

With breast cancer awareness as his inspiration, Tijuana Boxing promoter Guillermo “Memo” Mayen hopes to do his part by presenting a one of a kind boxing event Thursday, October 25th, at the Las Pulgas Concert Hall on Avenida Revolucion in downtown Tijuana. His entire boxing show will be comprised of women including his ring announcer, ringside doctor, referees, time keepers, judges, corner women and other assorted staff while led by an honorary boxing commissioner who just so happens to be the current WBA super bantamweight champion Jackie “The Aztec Princess” Nava.

In the Main Event of “They wore pink,” they have two undefeated ladies battling it out for the vacant NABF flyweight title when Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico’s Joselyn “La Princesa” Arroyo (10-0, 3 KOs) faces Yadira Trejo (3-0) of Tlalnepantla, Mexico City, Mexico in a 10 rounder.

Also featured on the card: veteran light flyweight Jolene Blackshear (5-3, 2 KOs) from San Diego going up against Lili Barajas (3-0, 3 KOs) of Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico.
